Neal Vitale Reviews: The Bank Job
3 stars out of 5
Veteran Australian producer/director/writer Roger Donaldson (Cocktail, Smash Palace, Thirteen Days, The World's Fastest Indian) has delivered an efficient film based on a true-life bank heist and its fall-out in early 1970s London. An engaging storyline, with its share of twist and turns, is undercut by a competent but low-wattage cast, led by the dour Jason Stratham (Crank, Snatch, Transporter). Stratham is a one-dimensional, hard-boiled tough guy, and his performance is never leavened by any touch of humor or lightness. He is not an actor that one should build a film around, none of his colleagues provide much in the way of a spark, and The Bank Job suffers as a result.
