Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Generation 10 Cover View List View Listview
January 05, 2019
I am troubled and disturbed by the lousy advice all over the Internet, including on the Amazon web site. Customer service took more than a half hour to find a solution, and even then the phone agent could not; only the chat agent could find the answer.
The problem: on older kindles, the default library view is a list. On the Paperwhite, it is covers. How do you restore the list view?
Turns out to be totally non-intuitive, but easy once you know.
- Tap the top of the screen on your Kindle. Select the far left icon, that looks like a house and is labeled "home."
- Click on the words "Your Library" near the top of the screen.
- You will need to access a drop down menu that is not obviously a drop-down menu, and which has several names!
The drop down list, which appears on the "my library" page, may be entitled All Items, or Books, or Audible, or Comics, or Periodicals, or Docs, or Collections.
If you click on that word, in bold, in the upper right quadrant of the page, you are shown the menu above. Notice that you can have TWO active check marks; one selecting grid or cover list, and the other suggesting which items you wish to show.
It's as simple as that. I spent an hour with customer support so you don't have to. Drop me a line if this helped you.
