To my surprise two readers had similar wrist-scar stories to mine (check comments). Which leads me to chin scars; mine, Harrison Ford’s and so on. I can’t find the statistic but I remember there are a lot of chin scars; statistics are hard to come by except about 10 pediatric chin scars a month at a hospital in Lahore. I think it’s common.

Digits Of Any Multiple Of 9
The digits in any fmultiple of 9 always add up to a multiple of nine, I was (accurately) told by Hajj, a friendly vendor at the Farmer’s Market. Well, of course there is an explanation of the nine trick on the Internet; after all, this is the 21^st century.

They add up to a multiple of 9. For example, 562 x 9 is 5,058, which digits add up to 18, a multiple of 9.

The same is true for multiples of 3, the digits of which will be multiples of 3. And for 6's, they add up to multiples of 3, but must be even numbers to begin with.

When I was 15, I got a job over Christmas break with the local Kresge's double-checking the inventory calculations. I used casting out 9s to check the arithmetic. I found $7,000 in errors, which freaked out my employer. What fun!
