Why Did I 4: Survive My Accident

I am unsure that everything happens for a reason, but I am sure that some events teach important and necessary lessons.

Finally, there is the $10,000 question: why did I come within a hairsbreadth of dying in a one-car accident on Interstate 680? The obvious explanation is that I had a ventricular fibrillation incident that rendered me unconscious. A lot of people told me that it happened because I had undone work to do in this life. Everything I have done since then appears to support that theory.

I think you're absolutely right. Things happen for "reasons" in the sense of causation, but not in the sense of "purpose." It's up to us after the fact to find purpose out of what happens.
