Most of city songs were produced by PAMS.
When I was a boy in Portland, Oregon in the 50s and 60s, KEX had a lovely song entitled Call of the Northwest [lyrics here].
There's also a version of Call of the Northwest on YouTube. Thank you, Bruce Murdock, for the link.
Turns out that at least two other Gene Autrey/Golden West Broadcasting stations had a city song:
KSFO's Sound of San Francisco.
KVI’s Seattle song, Sound of the City.
(scroll down or search for "sound of the city"
A friend passed along the WMAL Baltimore/Washington song, I Like to be in DC
KFRC San Francisco's My Town
KFXD Nampa, Idaho Nampa my Nampa
KMPC Los Angeles had two songs. I was only able to find partial versions; if you have the full version, let me know and I will post it.
Not technically a city song... WTBS/Cambridge sung by the Beatles
Someone ought to post a copy of the most amazing piece of production work ever. At WTBS Cambridge (then then MIT FM radio station, now WMBR), a group of intrepid staff members managed to find snippets from Beatles Songs that spelled out WTBS, thus creating the WTBS/Beatles Station ID [AWAITING A COPY OF THE FILE]. With today's technology, probably quite easy. Using razor blades to cut magnetic tape to assemble this amazing piece of work seems like nothing less than a miracle. I would be happy to post credits if someone would tell me what they are.
