  • Bad Plagiarism On Demand Dan Ariely paid four essay mills to test their quality. Even those unscrupulous enough to use them should get their money back.
  • One More Reason to Loathe Republicans If we insist on dying as an empire, the least we can do is emulate Rome and grant our enterprising mercenaries full citizenship.
  • RT @JohnFugelsang: The hardest thing about following the teachings of Jesus is having so many Christians call you a liberal socialist hippie
  • Roger Ebert Tweet: Why Obama should take a closer look at "The Godfather."
  • Sad Op-Ed from a while back:
    OPINION
      | September 28, 2007 OP-ED CONTRIBUTOR; Dismantling Detroit
  • Scrapping.
The New York Times had a story on brick theft in St. Louis yesterday.
  • Another Plea for Progressive Consumption Taxes
Been reading this the past few days. ben stein says he's not rich. todd henderson says he's not rich. (actually both feel that their hard-earned money shouldn't go to the great unwashed.). brad delong's take on this is great.
  • The South has never admitted it lost the Civil War. CSA CSA!
  • “Great (Egg) Men Change History” All the Salmonella? Infintely preventable!
  • The rich people aren't paying their fair share of the tax burden (based on historical levels). Infrastructure maintenance has been put off for 50 years. Things have to be done. There have been stop-gap patches and fee increases for everything. But the regular joe has been convinced that his taxes are too high. And fights any kind of increase. Which plays right into the hands of the people with the money. The big problem is that wages have been flat for 30 years. Taxes are actually pretty low historically. I don't think most people would notice a small tax increase if their real income went up every year.Water systems are in terrible shape. That would be a great stimulus target. (Along with building railroads).
    Hard times.
  • From Kung Fu Monkey via Krugman in the Times: There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs. [Ed. note: I read Atlas Shrugged when I was 16, and briefly became a libertarian. I got over it]
  • Ebert Tweet:Tanning Secrets of Great Republicans
  • Item 6. TV time should be free for the national candidates (limited to a set amount). He is correct that the enormous sums that are necessary for TV easily lead to corruption. Of course in Alaska we can help the democratic candidate Scott McAdams for a mere pittance compared to most metro area costs

I was the weekly software reviewer in 133 episodes of the late PBS program The Computer Chronicles (1983-1992), as well as a commentator (1984-85) and a regular on what was the Christmas show and became the Annual Buyers Guide show (1985-1999). Parodies By Paul... and Robert

Yes, I am the Paul Schindler who predicted, in 1985, when the Macintosh was a year old, that it wouldn't be a success in business. I stand by that opinion. You can see Paul Schindler Pans Mac .

I did an audio summary of my career in radio and on podcasts: 35 Years Before The Mic .

I won Karl Kassel's voice for my answering machine because I won the listener limerick challenge on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me .

I, Paul E. Schindler, Jr., am driving my stake in the ground right here. I invented the podcast in March 2000 when I worked at Byte.com for CMP Media.
