By Paul E. Schindler, Jr.
Don’t just do something,
Stand there, a jest,
But as advice it stands the test.
Action, as good as it may seem,
Tossles the hair, sets eyes agleam.
But does it produce in its torrid way
Progress on any given day?
More often than not,
The answer’s no,
Yet it’s oft the way we go.
Action’s really overrated,
Usually better to be sedated.
Calm is where the center’s at
I think there is no harm in that.
The urge to act quite often brings
Fate’s foibles, troubles, nasty stings.
Remain inert on the other hand,
And you will often beat the band.
There really should be no debate,
They also serve who stand and wait.
