By Paul E. Schindler, Jr.
“Make me the happiest man on earth.”
A proposal.
A question.
A cliché.
10,000 times, I saw men on one knee:
In movies, TV, books:
“Make me the happiest man on earth.”
Three times, there was me on one knee:
In Boston, San Francisco and Orinda:
Somehow, never asked it in that way.
To you, I wish I’d said it,
So I’d know your answer.
But decades later. I know your answer:
“It will be my pleasure.”
